Virtual School Library Learning Commons
What is a School Library Learning Commons, exactly? ...
About
So, what is the difference between a library, something we have always had, and a School Library Learning Commons? Well, quite a bit. It's rather exciting and has been in existence all across North America in Universities, Public Libraries, and School Libraries (Secondary & Elementary).
They are "Common" spaces where a community (staff, students, parents) can gather for many reasons. Research, lessons, collaboration, social gathering, reading, makerspace, story workshop, games, and to feel valued and welcome. Watch the videos below to get an idea of what other districts in the province have done to transform their spaces.

Mission
The mission of the Highlands Library Learning Commons program is to provide a safe environment where all stakeholders (students and staff) feel supported by the Teacher-Librarian to learn and develop their skills in reading, research, inquiry, and leadership.
Vision
It is the vision of the HLLC that in their time and connection in Highlands Elementary, students and staff come to know and embrace the SLLC as their hub for learning, experimenting, and inspiration
